The grinding zone and the sliding zones are arranged exactly level with one another. The stops are set beforehand in the setting station # 052300 so that they protrude beyond the surface of the specimen slide by the amount of the desired thickness of the specimen. The diamond grinding zone grinds the specimen until the stops rest on the sliding surfaces and are thereby stopped. The desired thickness has now been reached and the grinding process is interrupted. The thin section attachment # 090115 prevents the stops from getting into the area of the grinding zones and being damaged as a result.
